KAUNAS (FIBA U16 Women's European Championship 2018) - Inspired by brilliant individual performances, Turkey defeated Latvia and Poland took down Germany as the field was set for the Quarter-Finals.

Sude Yilmaz's sensational first half set Turkey on their way, the wing finishing opening 20 minutes with 21 points on 11 shots, capped by a brilliant offensive rebound and put-back.

Yilmaz added just five further points in the second half, but she was ably supported by Melek Uzunoglu, who contributed a gaudy stat-line of 21 points, 9 boards, 7 blocks and 6 steals for an efficiency of 39, somehow eclipsing Yilmaz's 37 as Turkey pulled away for the 74-59 victory.

Poland found their own impressive individual contributors to take down Germany, who unfortunately lost captain Sarah Polleros to injury in the first half. Magdalena Szymkiewicz took full advantage, going 7-of-10 from downtown on her way to a tournament-high 29 points.

But Szymkiewicz also benefited from a brilliant sidekick, with Alicja Rogozinska stuffing the stat-sheet with a fantastic line of 9 points, 8 rebounds and 7 steals to add to 12 assists - also a tournament-high.

Poland will play Spain next after the Spanish used another phenomenal run to break open their game with Belgium, scoring 36 unanswered points to close the first half.

Turkey face Russia in their Quarter-Final after the Russians eased past Croatia, while Hungary set up a date with Czech Republic by breaking hosts Lithuania's hearts.

The last Quarter-Final will be between Italy and France, with the pair enjoying comfortable victories over Denmark and Serbia respectively.
