    BOURGES (FIBA U16 Women's European Championship) - The biggest stars in the European game launched their careers at the FIBA U16 Women's European Championship.

    We take a look down the years to pick out some of the stellar names that first graced the international arena at the event.

    Alba Torrens (Spain)

    The reigning EuroBasket Women MVP, Torrens stepped out in 2004 when she helped Spain to the title. Many more gold medals and accolades would come her way and Spain would also go on to dominate this event.

    Celine Dumerc (France)

    The Bourges legend and most capped women's player in the history of France started her journey back in 1997 in Sopron as France took third place. Her national team adventures ended recently when she retired at EuroBasket Women 2017.

    Cecilia Zandalasini (Italy)

    She enjoyed a spectacular major tournament debut at EuroBasket Women 2017, before being cruelly denied a place at the FIBA Women's Basketball World Cup 2018. Zandalsini hit the floor during 2011 on home soil in Cagliari when Italy took bronze.

    Sonja Petrovic (Serbia)

    The Serbia and EuroLeague Women standout has established herself as one of the most popular and talented players on the Continent. Petrovic appeared in 2004 when she reached the Final with Serbia and Montenegro.

    Emma Meesseman (Belgium)

    Meesseman arrived on the scene in Katowice during 2008 when she took Belgium to 5th. A year later she was in the Final. She's since won EuroLeague Women, starred in the WNBA and drove Belgium to a historic bronze at EuroBasket Women 2017.

    Amanda Zahui (Sweden)

    Zahui is now a proven WNBA and EuroLeague Women performer, having first played for Sweden in Valmiera, Latvia in 2007. She showed her promise instantly by recording a tournament double-double.

    Anete Steinberga (Latvia)

    Th center recently propelled her country to a historic first ever place at the FIBA Women's Basketball World Cup next year in Spain with some huge displays at EuroBasket Women Final Round. She was destined for such performances after a mammoth double-double during 2006 in Finland.

    Olivia Epoupa (France)

    One of the most exciting players of the new generation of Les Bleues stars, Epoupa is about to tip-off her EuroLeague Women career. She first appeared in Naples in 2009 as she helped France to 3rd place in what was a youth career full of medals.

    Birsel Vardarli Demirmen (Turkey)

    The veteran has been a cornerstone of Turkey's rise to prominence on the global stage in the past 6-7 years and is a massive favorite with the fans. The Fenerbahce legend appeared at the event back in 1999 

    Maria Vadeeva (Russia)

    Arguably the major teenage star of the women's game, the MVP of the FIBA U19 Women's Basketball World Cup 2017 arrived four years ago with a massive tournament double-double. She was then MVP in 2014 as Russia won gold -posting more eye-popping numbers.
