    Poland, Russia and Romania soar to 3-0; Bosnia and Herzegovina stay in fine form

    SARAJEVO (FIBA U16 European Championship 2018, Division B) – Another convincing display at the FIBA U16 European Championship 2018, Division B saw Poland stay in charge of proceedings in Group C after registering their third consecutive victory on Saturday.

    Jakub Ulczynski led the well-rounded Polish scoring effort with a team-high 11 points, as the Roman Prawica-coached side brushed aside Cyprus with a dominant 73-52 scoreline.

    No other player on the team entered double-digit territory, but the quartet of Daniel Ziolkowski, Kacper Klaczek, Kacper Gordon and Filip Siewruk collected 9 points apiece. On the other side of the court, Cypriot leader Aineas Jung had a game-high 17 points and 6 rebounds.

    Bulgaria overpowered Finland 

    Elsewhere in Group C, Bulgaria and Iceland moved to 2-1 records. Konstantin Kostadinov carried the Bulgarians to a 75-52 win over Finland with a 16-point and 10-rebound double-double. Meanwhile, Astthor Svalason exploded for 31 points, as Iceland topped Hungary 74-63 in the other game.

    Hosting the tournament in Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina continued to demonstrate their fine form with another double-digit win in Group D, treating the home fans to a 101-81 victory against Belarus after opening the game with a fantastic 30-11 stretch.

    Having collected 19 points and 7 rebounds, Denis Halilcevic was the top scorer of the game for the tournament hosts, while Aleksa Gataric chipped in with 16 points, as Bosnia and Herzegovina climbed to 2-0 in the table with a game in hand. Uladzislau Piarchak and Yahor Yuryeu had 18 points apiece for Belarus.

    Czech Republic showed no mercy in Kosovo's tournament-opener

    Ukraine also made it two-of-two with a 92-66 win over Switzerland, while Czech Republic moved their marker to 2-1 after handing Kosovo a 103-54 defeat in what was the first game of the tournament for the Kosovar players.

    Meanwhile, Russia overcame a new tournament-high by Danish guard Jonathan Klussmann en route to a 92-81 victory in Group B to go 3-0 in the standings. Aleksandr Maltsev had a team-high 22 points for the Russians, while Klussmann finished the contest with 32 points and 7 rebounds for Denmark.

    In the other games of the group, Belgium eased past Norway for a 93-41 victory, as the Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia blew out Slovakia with a 76-53 scoreline.

    Sweden nipped Ireland for their first win of the tournament

    Over in Group A, Romania moved atop the table with a 67-58 win against the previously undefeated Portugal, improving to 3-0. Luca Domocos was the game's leading scorer with 16 points for the victors, while Hugo Miguel Silva collected 4 points and 17 rebounds for Portugal.

    After beginning their campaign with two defeats in a row, Sweden finally got on the board with a 73-70 triumph over Ireland, as Kenny Pohto double-doubled with 10 points and 15 rebounds. In the only other game in Group A, Great Britain punished Luxembourg with a one-sided 89-37 victory to climb to 2-1 in the standings.
