    Good Angels upset all-Turkish party

    MUNICH (EuroCup Women) - Galatasaray suffered their first defeat of the competition at the hands of Good Angels Kosice, while their Turkish compatriots enjoyed first leg victories.

    MUNICH (EuroCup Women) - Galatasaray suffered their first defeat of the competition at the hands of Good Angels Kosice, while their Turkish compatriots enjoyed first leg victories.

    Hatay BB, Bellona Agu and Yakin Dogu Universitesi all earned advantages to take into the second legs on Friday.

    Galatasaray had made a bright start to lead after 10 minutes, but Kosice responded well and dominated the final period to take a 73-62 home victory.

    Victoria Baugh tallied 18 points and 13 rebounds with Teja Oblak netting 19 points and adding 5 assists in the win.

    The home side held their opponents to just 9 points in the fourth to take a double-digit advantage into the reverse fixture.

     

    Bellona Agu produced a stunning performance away from home to put one foot in the Semi-Finals with a 65-85 triumph at BLMA.

    Ann Wauters led the rout with 18 points and 8 rebounds, while Jelena Dubljevic contributed 18 points, 7 rebounds, 5 assists and 4 steals in an all-round display.

    The French side were undone by a 9-28 second quarter and must now win the second leg on the road by 21 points to advance.


    The closest of the Quarter-Finals ties came in Villeneuve-d'Ascq as Yakin Dogu Universitesi edged out ESBVA-LM for a narrow 67-68 success.

    Kayla McBride posted an 18-point, 12-rebound double-double, while she had valuable support from Courtney Vandersloot who handed out 10 assists to accompany a 17-point haul.

    Meanwhile, Courtney Paris had another strong game for Hatay BB as they defeated Wisla Can-Pack 57-69 on the road to gain the upper-hand in the tie.

    The American center harvested 21 points and 13 boards with the visitors taking control with a dominant second period.

    The second legs of all four ties all take place on Friday with the Semi-Finals lineup to be completed.
