FIBA Europe acknowledges that there was an incident involving the players of the Turkish club CBK Mersin Yenisehir Bld and a member of the organizing committee of the EuroLeague Women Final Four 2023 host club, ZVVZ USK Prague.

Following the conclusion of the game between the host club and Mersin, the said person denied the celebrating players of the Turkish team access to one of the Turkish flags offered by a member of the public.

The Prague club has since apologized to Mersin in writing, stating that the whole episode was a misunderstanding and a misinterpretation of the FIBA Arena Rules, Article 3.4 about the use of flags in the venue.

FIBA Europe will work closely with the organizing host club and the Czech Basketball Federation to ensure that every possible measure is taken to avoid the repeat of similar incidents in the future.
