MUNICH (Germany) - The highly anticipated All-EuroLeague Women First Team and Second Team have both been unveiled as the curtain is about to fall on the competition's annual awards.
There's now only the prestigious MVP honor still to be announced, with the five players named in the First Team - Alina Iagupova and Satou Sabally of Fenerbahce Safiport, Maria Conde and Alyssa Thomas of ZVVZ USK Praha and Perfumerias Avenida star Kahleah Copper - in contention.
Final Four hosts Fenerbahce Safiport have two members included in the First Team, with both Alina Iagupova and Satou Sabally picking up individual accolades before spearheading their club's pursuit of a maiden title next week. The former averaged 16.2 points, 5.4 assists and 5.3 boards per game, while Sabally weighed in with 16.1 points, 8.2 rebounds and 2.4 assists.
ZVVZ USK Praha also have two representatives in the lineup, with Maria Conde having posted the season of her career so far. She has been particularly influential of late, with the Spaniard putting in some stellar shows and producing an average of 17.5 points, 5.9 rebounds and 2.9 assists per game.
Conde is joined by her Praha teammate Alyssa Thomas, whose do it-all style means she is always a massive factor in any game in the tournament. The forward has averaged 14.4 points, 9.5 boards and 5.7 dimes per outing.
Meanwhile Kahleah Copper turned heads with her capacity to shine on offense for Perfumerias Avenida. The leading scorer in the competition is included after pouring in 22.5 points per game, along with 6.1 rebounds and 2.0 assists.
The All-EuroLeague Women Second Team also sees a Fenerbahce Safiport backcourt and frontcourt duo taking spots. Kayla McBride and recently crowned Defensive Player of the Year Elizabeth Williams are both included.
McBride is her team's top scorer and has returned 19.0 points, 4.4 rebounds and 3.3 assists per game, with Williams adding 13.2 points. 9.2 boards, 2,6 assists and a competition-leading 2.5 blocks per game.
Gabby Williams gets the thumbs up after another productive campaign with Sopron Basket, with the winger contributing 13.4 points, 5.6 rebounds and 3.7 assists to the cause, as the Hungarians continued their rich vein of form by qualifying for the Final Four once again.
Brionna Jones of ZVVZ USK Praha is included after a superb season which saw her being named MVP for December. She has been a towering presence and averaged 19.8 points and 8.5 rebounds per game with a league-best efficiency score of 23.7.
The inclusion of Sandrine Gruda may feel slightly bitter-sweet since Beretta Famila Schio just came up short in their quest to advance to the Final Four. But she could barely have done more to inspire them with an outstanding season double-double of 13.9 points and 10.1 rebounds per outing.
