Who will clinch the last tickets to the EuroLeague Women Regular Season?

MUNICH (Germany) - The EuroLeague Women Qualifiers will see four clubs fighting it out on Wednesday, October 28 to clinch the last two precious spots in the Regular Season.

The Qualifiers Hub will be hosted by Izmit Belediyespor, who will compete against Aluinvent DVTK Miskolc in a one-off winner-takes-all game, with the other contest seeing Spar Girona go up against ACS Sepsi-Sic.

The two winning clubs will advance to the Regular Season and the losers will switch to EuroCup Women. 

15:00 CET: Aluinvent DVTK Miskolc v Izmit Belediyespor

History is guaranteed when both clubs meet to decide who will step out for their first ever EuroLeague Women Regular Season campaign. With Izmit Belediyespor on their home court and wanting to show their ambitions for the future, there is a big motivation to succeed. Meanwhile DVTK have fallen in previous Qualifiers and will try to avoid that sinking feeling again, while they would love to move into their impressive new arena in 2021 as a bonafide EuroLeague Women club.

Both sides have their game-winners in waiting, with Miskolc likely to lean heavily on experienced guard Dora Medgyessy, a star for Hungary in 3x3 and an assists magnet in EuroCup Women down the years. She'll look to feed Latvian ace Kristine Vitola and Chanelle Mokango inside. The Hungarians also have a new coach at the helm in the shape of Attila Foldi. However, his desire to make a big impression on his EuroLeague Women debut has been derailed by a positive coronavirus test and he will not be in attendance.

Izmit Belediyespor are pinning their hopes on a virtually brand new roster gelling together quickly. With so many new faces in the locker room, it will be interesting to see how they can perform with the pressure on them. Erica Wheeler will pull the strings, while Clarissa Dos Santos and Milica Jovanovic will go to work under the hoop and hope they can propel their team to glory. However, they will be concerned that they have lost 2 of their last 3 Turkish league games.

The winning side will join Dynamo Kursk, Nadezhda, Perfumerias Avenida in Group A.

Spar Girona will be strong favorites and expected to see off an ACS Sepsi-Sic side looking to not only complete the upset, but make the EuroLeague Women Regular Season for the first time.  Girona are packed with more seasoned performers at the elite level and have two EuroLeague Women legends in the shape of Laia Palau and Sonja Vasic. When you throw in the scoring power of USA star Chelsea Gray and Swedish ace Frida Eldebrink, plus the all-around game of Nigerian Adaora Elonu, they look stacked in comparison to their rivals.

The underdog status of ACS Sepsi-Sic is exacerbated because they're seriously undercooked in terms of competitive games, with the Romanian League yet to get underway. Head coach Zoran Mikes has attained huge success in the past seasons domestically and they have made steady progress in EuroCup Women, but this is a big leap to have to take.

The one-off game situation will help, and they do have quality of their own. The towering frame of center Marie Ruzickova is an experienced anchor in the paint, while Rebekah Gardner can add an offensive boost from the backcourt. If Pinelopi Pavlopoulou can capture the form she has shown for the Greek national team, then that would be handy, but everything really will have to come together on the night if Sepsi want to take a historical footstep.

The winning side will not only join Famila Schio, TTT Riga and UMMC Ekaterinburg in Group C, but will also host the the group's first Regular Season hub in November and December.
