SOPRON (Hungary) - Brittney Griner had an added cause for celebration as she was named the EuroLeague Women Final Four MVP in Sopron.

SOPRON (Hungary) - Brittney Griner had an added cause for celebration as she was named the EuroLeague Women Final Four MVP in Sopron.

The UMMC center was on fire in the early stages when they made the early statement that founded an eye-catching 91-67 triumph against Dynamo Kursk.

Griner blocked four shots in the first 15 minutes and it set the tone for victory. She eventually managed to harvest a fine double-double of 16 points and 10 rebounds which followed on from a similarly classy showing in the Semi-Final against Sopron Basket.

    ...

That was enough to only just nudge out her teammate Courtney Vandersloot who was also a worthy contender for the accolade.

"Sloot was amazing and I always say that I couldn't have won that MVP award without her," insisted Griner.

"I always rely on the guards being a post player. I really could not have done it without her and in truth, this MVP award actually goes to everyone of us."
