EKATERINBURG (EuroLeague Women) - Russian powerhouse UMMC Ekaterinburg have turned to Spanish coach Miguel Mendez who will be tasked with delivering more EuroLeague Women titles to the club.

The playcaller succeeds Olaf Lange, who departed less than 48 hours earlier due to family reasons and Mendez makes a return to the competition having held the coaching reins of Famila Schio for four seasons between 2013 and 2017.

He also catapulted Rivas Ecopolis to a shock place at the first-ever EuroLeague Women Final Eight during 2012 and then made even more of a splash by masterminding a run all the way to the Final of the event.

Mendez will link up with his compatriot Alba Torrens at UMMC and is also likely to have the incoming Maya Moore for his first EuroLeague Women game next week - ironically against his ex-employers, Schio.
