MUNICH (EuroLeague Women) - Just hours after UMMC moved to 9-3 for the EuroLeague Women Regular season with a win against Nadezhda, it was confirmed that head coach Olaf Lange had departed.
The play-caller has served at UMMC for a number of seasons and is leaving Ekaterinburg due to family reasons. It has been a relatively rocky road of late, with the juggernauts losing three Regular Season games for the first time in five years.
Lange brought EuroLeague Women titles to the club during 2013 and 2016, as well as a raft of domestic silverware. However, he has faced some criticism from those who believe it is a relatively lean return for the significant financial outlay thought to have been made by the powerhouse.
It is also unclear what impact his departure will have as head coach of the Russia national team - having only taken the reins last year.
UMMC are yet to name a replacement head coach.
