MUNICH (Germany) - Three clubs booked their passage to the EuroCup Women Round of 8, with KSZ Szekszard headlining after recording a jaw-dropping comeback.
The Hungarian side were trailing by 18 points from their first-leg encounter at Artego Bydgoszcz, but stunned their opponents by pulling out a scintillating 86-60 victory.
It was founded on a dazzling 23 points and 9 assists from Sweden national team leader, Frida Elderbrink. There were also important cameos from Australian star, Abby Bishop with 17 points, while Ivana Dojkic went 5-of-6 from the field for 12 points.
"Thanks to my team and the fans, as the atmosphere they created today was a big part of our success and it shows that there ought to be more EuroCup Women Games in Szekszard," said a triumphant and winning head coach, Zeljko Djokic.
"We were better in every aspect of the game and my team played very well. The key was to take out (Julie) McBride from the game, and Frida Eldberink made that possible - not to mention her offensive effort."
