    SANTIAGO (2009 FIBA Americas Championship) - The Dominican Republic defeated Puerto Rico 104-94 to sweep their warm up series 2-0 prior to the 2009 FIBA Americas Championship in a game played at Arena del Cibao.

    NBA players Francisco García, Charlie Villanueva and Al Horford combined for 52 points in the win. Garcia had 19 points while Villanueva and Horford netted 17 each.

    The first half was for the Dominicans 53-38 as Horford led with 11 points.

    Villanueva took charge of the Dominican offense in the third quarter making 12 points to finish the first 30 minutes up 80-63.

    In the loss Larry Ayuso netted 19 points while Carlos Arroyo along with Jesse Pellot-Rosa had 18 points each.

    The Puerto Rican national team returns today to their island and will continue their practices toward the Marchand Continental Championship Cup to be played on August 18,19 and 20 at Coliseo de Puerto Rico José Miguel Agrelot where they will play Argentina, Brazil and Canada.

    Brazil and Canada arrive today while Argentina will make it to Puerto Rico on Monday.
