Divac among recipients of Olympic Order

RIO DE JANEIRO - Vlade Divac, the Chairman of FIBA's Players' Commission and a FIBA Central Board member, on Sunday was among the recipients of the Olympic Order, as the 129th International Olympic Committee (IOC) Session concluded on Sunday.

The Session recognised the outstanding services of a numbers of Members and individuals to the Olympic Movement.

Divac was one of three individuals to have distinguished themselves through their outstanding services to the Olympic Movement and advancing the values of sport around the world. He was joined by India's Narayanaswamy Ramachandran and Finland's Riesto Nieminen.

The IOC said of Divac: "Throughout his life, Vlade Divac has understood the power of sport to bring people together in friendship and peace. He has always given back to his community what his sport of basketball has given him. A double Olympic medallist, he has dedicated his career to placing sport at the service of humanity."

Divac won two FIBA Basketball World Cups (1990 and 2002) and three EuroBaskets (1991, 1995 and 1999) with the former Yugoslavia and enjoyed a 16-year NBA career. In 2009, he was elected President of Serbia's Olympic Committee (OKS) and re-elected in 2014. His second term comes to an end following the conclusion of the Rio 2016 Olympic Games. He is currently the Vice-President of Basketball Operations and General Manager for the NBA's Sacramento Kings.
