DUBAI (UAE) - Some have come close. A rare few have come even painfully closer.
But UAE's DeMarco Dickerson is the first-ever to record a triple-double in FIBA Asia Cup Qualifiers history since 2017.
As he had been doing the entire game, Demarco Dickerson drew in the defense with his dazzling dribbling and dropped off a delicious dime on a backdoor dash down the baseline by Rashed Alzaabi. Once Azaabi drove in the layup, it was confirmed. Dickerson had recorded his 10th assist to complete a triple-double for the first time in an Asia Cup Qualifiers game since the start of the new qualifiers format in 2017.
The debutant ended up finishing with 16 points, 15 rebounds, and 10 assists while also recording 4 steals, leading UAE to their first victory of the Asia Cup 2025 Qualifiers 90-77 over Bahrain.
There have been a few occasions in the past in the Asia Cup Qualifiers that have come close, whether it was Palestine's Kyndall Dykes (11 points, 9 rebounds, 14 assists against Sri Lanka on February 21, 2021) or Sani Sakakini (23 points, 9 rebounds, and 10 assists against Jordan on June 12, 2021), but in the end, it is Dickerson who will take the claim.
Across all Continental Cup Qualifiers, this is the third triple-double since the start of the new competition format in 2017. The first was recorded by Switzerland's Jonathan Kazadi.
That was followed by Libya's Mohamed Sadi, who was actually one rebound short of a quadruple-double.
