WASHINGTON (2010 FIBA World Championship/NBA) - Yi Jianlian is on the move again after being traded by the New Jersey Nets to the Washington Wizards.

The 22-year-old averaged 12 points and seven rebounds for the Nets last season but only appeared in 51 games and with the club looking to free up space under the salary cap, the Chinese star was deemed expendable.

Yi, who will play for China at the FIBA World Championship in Turkey, is due to earn $4.1million next season.

The Wizards sent Quinton Ross, who will earn $1.1million, to the Nets.

"I think we're concerned about our own situation, and this fits in with our plan of adding young players, players that can be part of a core going forward," Wizards president Ernie Grunfeld said.

"We've got a player who's had success in the NBA and at the same time is only 22 years old."

Yi was the sixth overall pick by Milwaukee in the 2007 NBA Draft.

The Wizards also own the rights to France's promising power forward Kevin Seraphin after working out a deal with Chicago - the team that drafted Seraphin last week.

In that deal, the Wizards acquired Chicago guard Kirk Hinrich.
