CHN - Brand, Beijing overcome poor Shanxi Zhongyu in OT

BEIJING (CBA) - Micah Brand was a one-man wrecking crew for Beijing as they beat Shanxi Zhongyu 118-111 in overtime in China's CBA.

Brand had 49 points, 15 rebounds and blocked two shots in a contest that was tight throughout.

Beijing did just enough in the extra period to prevail for the third time in four games while Shanxi Zhongyu remained winless.

Darius Rice was also in scintillating form, pouring in 40 points in Jilin's 97-92 triumph over Liaoning.

Jilin, who are now 4-3, trailed 23-14 at the end of the first quarter but then stormed back and held a 50-38 at half-time.

Liaoning showed their fighting qualities, battling back for a 70-69 lead by the end of the third before Jilin had the final say over the last 10 minutes.

Rice also had eight rebounds, while Zhang Qingpeng scored 25 points in defeat.

Another side that has yet to taste victory is Zhejiang Guangsha after they lost heavily to Shanghai.

Jermaine Dearman scored a game-high 36 points for the winners.

Guangdong are still the only unbeaten side in China's top flight.

The defending champions throttled Yunnan 131-75, putting the game out of reach in the first quarter when Guangdong outscored their opponents 38-18.

Yi Jianlian scored 32 points in the victory.

Jiangsu won for the sixth time in seven games and are alone in second place.

They beat Shandong 120-97 with Tang Zhengdong again leading the way with 21 points.

Fujian beat Dongguan 111-103, Zhejiang Wanma defeated Bayi 93-79 and Xinjiang were 99-85 winners over Shanxi Hansi.
