    MANATI (FIBA Women’s AmeriCup 2019) – The National Teams from Mexico and Puerto Rico captured their second win of the Centrobasket Women’s Championship, as Cuba debuted in the regional championship in dominant fashion.

    Mexico defeated Bahamas 74-52 to improve to a 2-0 record in Group B. Mexico dominated from the start and never looked back, as Jacqueline Luna led the scoring for the Mexicans with 18 points.

    The host added their second win of the Centrobasket Women’s Championship after a powerful and dominating performance over Costa Rica. In a game that included 7 Boricua players scoring in double digits, Yolanda Jones was the leading voice for the Boricuas with 17 points.

    Cuba debuted in Group A with a dominant performance over the Dominican Republic 85-52. Cuba took a slight lead at the end of the first quarter and kept adding to the difference throughout the remainder of the game. Yamara Amargo led the scoring for the Cubans with 24 points.

    Tomorrow on the last day of the Group Phase, Cuba will face Guatemala, Puerto Rico will take-on Mexico and Costa Rica will take on Bahamas.

    The top four teams from the Centrobasket Women’s Championship will qualify to the FIBA Women’s AmeriCup 2019.
