Canadian Will Riley named MVP of BWB Global camp
INDIANAPOLIS (United States) - Will Riley of Canada was named the Most Valuable Player of the Basketball Without Borders Global Camp 2024 at the NBA All-Star Weekend.
INDIANAPOLIS (United States) - Will Riley of Canada was named the Most Valuable Player of the Basketball Without Borders (BWB) Global Camp 2024 at the NBA All-Star Weekend.
Riley showed why he is one of the best high school players in the USA, excelling in Indianapolis among one of 40 boys campers from Africa, the Americas, Asia, and Europe.

The eighth annual global camp had the campers participate in athletic testing, movement efficiency, skill development stations, shooting and skills competitions, life skills seminars and 5-on-5 games under the guidance of current and former NBA and WNBA players, legends and coaches, including Joakim Noah and Detlef Schrempf.

Among the other BWB Global 2024 coaches were four-time WNBA champion Cynthia Cooper, former NBA players Joey Dorsey and Flip Murray, former NBA G League player Wayne Blackshear, and Seattle Storm assistant coach and former WNBA player Ebony Hoffman.

The campers also received the visit of FIBA Secretary General Andreas Zagklis.
The players were drafted into four teams and then played a series of games. Riley helped the Pacers team to win the Championship Game, beating the Pistons 39-31, finishing the camp as the third-leading scorer with 6.9 points in seven games.

German Christian Anderson and Nolan Traore of France both scored nine points for the Pacers in the final and Riley had eight points. Also on the Pacers team were Gustavo Guimaraes of Brazil, Lithuanian Kasparas Jakucionis, South Sudan's Khaman Maluach, Senegal's Assane Mandian, Japan's Riku Segawa, Abdramane Siby of Mali and Brazilian Enrico Vicentini.
Maluach, who last summer played at the FIBA Basketball World Cup 2023 despite not having celebrated his 17th birthday, was named as the Playoff MVP as well as the Defensive MVP.

Australian Jacob Furphy was given the Patrick Baumann Sportsmanship Award and Bulgarian Aleksander Gavalyugov was the 3-Point Champion.
