Chris Bosh and Andrea Bargnani went down but the Toronto Raptors had more than enough healthy players to rip Memphis 103-91 Wednesday in a National Basketball Association game.
Anthony Parker scored 19 points to lead seven Raptors in double figures, including Carlos Delfino, whose 14 points all came in the second quarter as Toronto improved to 8-7.
"We hit our shots, ran the court and played good defense and that was the difference," Delfino said. "It's important for us to build our confidence at home."
Starting guard T.J. Ford was already hurt and things became worse for the Raptors when Bosh, hurt Tuesday in practice, was sidelined with a strained right groin 2:16 into the second quarter with Toronto ahead 33-31.
"I have a strained groin," Bosh said. "I pulled it a little bit and tried to give it a go. I was able to go a little bit, but it was painful and there's no reason to risk further injury right now.
"I don't think I'll be out very long. I'll get a good treatment and stretch it out and I'll take it day by day."
The Raptors answered the challenge but Italian forward Bargnani was sidelined with a right knee injury 1:54 into the fourth quarter. He has 11 points and seven rebounds before the injury.
Once Bosh was knocked out, the Raptors still managed to outscore Memphis 24-8 to seize a 57-39 lead. Delfino went 6-for-6 in the second quarter and also grabbed five rebounds in the period.
"We are a deep team and everybody is ready to play," Raptors guard Jose Calderon said. "We missed Chris, but everybody jumped to the call ready to play and ready to help the team.
"We played a really good second quarter and third quarter and it was almost a perfect game. I think we played really good."
The Raptors pushed the lead to as many as 28 points when Parker slammed down a dunk 7:40 into the third quarter.
"With such a long season, so many things can happen. Guys are going to get a chance," Parker said.
