PORT MORESBY (Papua New Guinea) – The Basketball Federation of Papua New Guinea have received two laptops to assist with future competitions following the FIBA U17 Oceania Championship.
Hornsby Spiders Basketball Association donated the two laptops to further assist with statistician development.
“Having helped out at the Championships, I can see there are some very talented statisticians here in Papua New Guinea and I really enjoyed working with them,” said Tournament Statistics Educator, Daniel Giffney. “We had a really good team at the event, and I really hope they have the opportunity to continue to develop their skills.”
Giffney is the Statistic Coordinator at Hornsby Spiders Basketball Association and arranged the laptop donation. “It was a challenge for the PNG volunteers to reach an international standard in a short time, but the team was outstanding. I hope that the donation of these laptops will assist in facilitating that continued growth.”
Basketball Federation of Papua New Guinea (BFPNG), Executive Officer, Miskus Lapan, said that the donation was well received and will play a vital role in maintaining a high level of event statics.
“We are very thankful for the donation of the laptops from Hornsby Basketball Association,” Mr Lapan said. “BFPNG are always eager to host international events such as the FIBA U17 Oceania Championship but equally as important is hosting national and regional events here in PNG at a level that is equal to international standards.”
“Having two extra laptops to assist with delivering statistics at our basketball tournaments will be a valuable asset for BFPNG moving forward.”
The Basketball Federation of Papua New Guinea is proudly supported by the Australian Government through PacificAus Sports and Team Up in partnership with FIBA Foundation.
