Brazil - Brazilian basketball team seeks Argentina's Olympic gold winning coach
The president of the Brazilian Confederation of Basketball, Carlos Nunes, admitted on Sunday to having made contact with 2004 Olympics gold winning coach Ruben Magnano for a possible replacement of health troubled former coach Moncho Monsalve. Spanish Monsalve is questionable as to whether he will return to coach the team in 2010 due to health problem. The uncertainty of Monsalve's ability to continue to coach has led Nunes to begin talks with the Argentinean Ruben Magnano, who steered the Argentinean national team in the 2004 Olympic Games to gold.

The uncertainty of Monsalve's ability to continue to coach has led Nunes to begin talks with the Argentinean Ruben Magnano, who steered the Argentinean national team in the 2004 Olympic Games to gold.
"We are very interested in Magnano. He is a great coach and would be able to adapt easily to our style of play. However, I don't know if he will accept our offer," said Nunes.
The Brazilian Confederation of Basketball intends to resolve the coaching situation by the end of this month. Monsalve, who is recovering from a recent operation, did not have his contract renewed by the Brazilian entity.
He led the Brazilian national team to win the American Cup late last year, guaranteeing the team's presence at the 2010 World Championships of basketball in Turkey.
