SAN JUAN (FIBA Americas Championship) - Red-hot Brazil won for the seventh time in as many games on Thursday night when they thumped Uruguay 82-62.

Having already clinched a place in the Semi-Finals in San Juan and at next year's FIBA World Championship in Turkey after Wednesday's triumph over Canada, Brazil rested Tiago Splitter and Leandro Barbosa against the Uruguayans with both players carrying knocks.

Next up is a game against hosts Puerto Rico on Friday night - the last contest for both sides in the Quarter-Final Round of the FIBA Americas Championship.

"Once again, the defense was very important and allowed only 62 points," Brazil coach Moncho Monsalve said.

"I had the opportunity to put the players in who were not playing much and they showed they are well prepared.

"Leandro and Tiago will face Puerto Rico only if they have 100% in their condition.

"Otherwise, they will be rested for Saturday's Semi-Final.

"The team is to be congratulated for its seventh victory in the competition."

Flamengo scoring machine Marcelinho poured in 23 points to lead the way for the Brazilians against Uruguay.

"What we have to do now is continue focus on winning," Marcelinho said.

"The team that wants to be champion can only think of winning, regardless of the opponents.

"Brazil and Puerto Rico are traditional opponents and the fans will see a great game."
