BUENOS AIRES (Argentina) – Boca Juniors (3-2) delivered an almost flawless performance in front of their home crowd in Buenos Aires. They handed Flamengo (4-1) their first loss of the season with a commanding 96-71 victory in a Group B matchup at Gimnasio Héctor Etchart. Boca Juniors exploded offensively, shooting an impressive 60% from the field (38-63), including a scorching 15-of-23 from beyond the arc (63%). On the defensive end, they held the Brazilian squad to just 37% shooting (26-71).
José Vildoza (3 three-pointers) and Franco Giorgetti (3 three-pointers) led the way with 15 points each, while Santiago Scala (4 three-pointers and 8 assists) and Colombian big man Andrés Ibargüen added 14 points apiece. After leading 24-17 at the end of the first quarter, Boca completely dominated Flamengo in the second and third periods with decisive runs of 32-15 and 28-12, respectively, entering the final quarter with a massive 84-44 lead—effectively sealing the game. For Flamengo, Gui Deodato knocked down five three-pointers and led the offense with 22 points, while Kayo Manfio added 10. Point guard Alexey Borges was unavailable for head coach Gustavo Conti. Flamengo, having already secured the top spot in the group, will face last-place Toros de Chiriquí (0-4) on Monday.
