MUNICH (Greece) - History was made not only on the court, but also in the stands as Bilbao Basket and PAOK mateco set a new all-time attendance record for FIBA Europe Cup Finals.
A combined 18,514 spectators packed the arenas for the two sold-out legs of the title-decider, which culminated in Bilbao Basket celebrating their maiden international trophy.
The first leg at the Bilbao Arena drew a capacity crowd of 10,014 and the return fixture in Thessaloniki was played in front of a full house at the PAOK Sports Arena, with an official attendance of 8,500.
Bilbao Basket wrote a new chapter in FIBA Europe Cup history by becoming the first club from Spain to win the competition, with a 154-149 triumph on aggregate.
The newly crowned FIBA Europe Cup champions stood out as the team with the highest attendance in the entire competition, with an average of 4,751 spectators across the nine home games in the competition.
