BFI will continue to extend all support and cooperation for the game says President Govindaraj

NEW DEHLI (India) - BFI's efforts have been continuously put forth, whether it’s to keep the community active through basketball, providing financial aid, or supporting in the convenience of medical care.

NEW DEHLI (India) - The Basketball Federation of India (BFI) has always extended  support to the community, regardless whether basketball-related or not. These efforts have been continuously put forth, whether it’s to keep the community active through basketball, providing financial aid, or supporting in the convenience of medical care.

In order to maintain continuity and keep alive the interest and motivation among the Basketball family in India during the prevalent uncertain times of the COVID19 pandemic spread across the world, BFI started the Online Education Program for Coaches, Referees, Table Officials and Statisticians on Zoom from May 13 onwards in which up to 500 participants can attend. The Sports Authority of India (SAI) coaches as well as Diploma trainees are also asked to join these sessions.

“The Basketball Federation of India will continue to extend all its support and cooperation for the game to all connected and associated with it, in any manner it can to help in improving the society at large in these dreadful days of the COVID-19,” Sri K. Govindaraj

"The objective of this program is to start universal fundamental coaching program at the grassroots level in India which will further help to train the players at the same level across country," said Dr. K Govindaraj, president of BFI.

The federation has also been consistently keeping their pool of national team players active and supported as well.

Through zoom, BFI has been connected with the players of all age groups, both men and women, encouraging them to keep working on their fitness and individual techniques by sharing them video clips.

Additionally, the president and the BFI also took a great initiative to financially support the players who need Financial Assistance during the COVID-19 lockdown period. A total of 47 players were found eligible for financial assistance across India based on certain parameters for Financial Assistance.

"This was to provide basic financial relief to the [players who are not holding employment amidst the ongoing corona virus pandemic to be able to assist them to resume their educational and sporting activities," said Govindaraj.

BFI also took a great initiative extending its support to ensure the health and wellbeing of the national team players who are representing the country at the International Competitions and attending the National Coaching Camp in preparation for the upcoming International competitions by providing them with Medical/Health Insurances.

"The objective is to ensure the safety and to provide security in the days to come for the Campers who are the assets of our country," added the BFI president.

Govindaraj had also helped to donate and arrange ambulances to support the medical aid in the rural areas. This would make it more convenient for patients to be admitted to a government hospital in an emergency situation.

"The Basketball Federation of India will continue to extend all its support and cooperation for the game to all connected and associated with it, in any manner it can to help in improving the society at large in these dreadful days of the COVID-19," said Govindaraj.

"The President and the Basketball Federation of India wishes the basketball fraternity across the world to be healthy and safe."
