Key updates ahead of BCL Americas Group Stage 2

MIAMI (United States) – Group Stage 2 of Basketball Champions League Americas starts on Wednesday 17th and runs through January 28th. Here are some of the roster changes announced by the teams.

MIAMI (United States) – Group Stage 2 of Basketball Champions League Americas starts on Wednesday 17th and runs through January 28th. This will be a key instance because the teams that jumped to great starts could all but secure their spot in the Quarterfinals, while those who started slowly have the chance to get back on track.

During this second stage, we’ll have a clearer understanding of which teams are in the best shape and because of that and the need to not fall behind in the pack, several squads made roster moves looking to maximize their odds.

Here are some of the roster changes announced by the teams:

    Gladiadores

Edgar Martínez, a forward with Venezuelan National Team experience, joins the squad to replace Garly Sojo, who tragically passed away in his sleep at his Caracas home last December. Dominican center Jonathan Araújo, who has also represented his country at the international level, also arrives to reinforce the painted area.

    Halcones

The Mexican outfit has the most changes on their roster versus their first stage squad. Paco Olmos’ team announced eight additions: Mexican-Americans JJ Ávila and Daniel Bejarano, Mexican National Team star Gabriel Girón, Puerto Rican Tjader Fernández, Americans Jordan Glynn and Davon Jefferson, Argentinian Alexis Elsener and Austrian-Slovenian Rasid Mahalbasic.

    Boca Jrs

The Argentinians played the first stage with just one foreign player (Raven Barber). They’ve now announced the arrival of American Wayne Langston, who in 3 LNB games has averaged 9.3 points off the bench. Conversely, Nicolás Burgos left the club on loan to San Martín de Corrientes.

    Flamengo

The Rio de Janeiro giants reinforced their big man rotation with center Devon Scott. In 4 games, the U.S.-born player has averaged 10.3 points and 6.0 rebounds in just 21.0 minutes of action.

    UdeC

The Chilean champions added forward Derrick Woods to replace Yahota Rasas. However, it’s likely that the squad won’t feature Venezuelan big man Carlos Milano, who’s dealing with injury.
