OKINAWA (Japan) - Luka Doncic was serenaded with "M-V-P" chants late in Slovenia's eventual win over Georgia in Monday night's FIBA Basketball World Cup action.
The ever-appreciative crowd that trooped to the Okinawa Arena expressed their adoration of the Dallas Mavericks star while he was shooting from the free throw line with 3:12 left to play, and with the game all but settled. The title contenders eventually won, 88-67.
Luka later went to center court to receive his second TCL Player of the Game honor in a row, which he deservingly earned after delivering yet another masterful showing.
Doncic finished with 34 points on 45-percent shooting from the field, along with 10 rebounds, 6 assists, and 2 steals on the way to tallying an efficiency rating of 36.

It was a continuation of his fine play from their 100-85 win over Venezuela to open their campaign. There, he delivered 37 points - the fourth-most points by a player in a World Cup debut - on a 61.1-percent clip, on top of 7 rebounds, 6 assists, 2 steals, and 1 block for a 39 EFF rating.
That's already two straight games with at least 30 points for the global superstar.
Only three other players have had consecutive World Cup games with more than 30 points in the 21st century: Luis Scola and Kevin Durant, both in 2010, and Larry Ayuso in 2002.
Making those performances all the more impressive is the fact that the 24-year-old guard from Ljubljana did all those in just a little over 30 minutes of play.
There's no denying that Luka's first pair of games in the World Cup have been phenomenal... but does he deserve the MVP chants already?
