Indonesia announce Bank Mandiri as local sponsor of FIBA Basketball World Cup 2023

JAKARTA (Indonesia) - Indonesia, one of the hosts of the FIBA Basketball World Cup 2023, have announced Bank Mandiri as their local sponsor of the event, which will take place from August 25 to September 10, 2023.  

The partnership announcement was made 500 days before the tip-off of FIBA's first multi-host World Cup in the Philippines, Japan and Indonesia and as part of the agreement Bank Mandiri will receive key commercial rights access to the FIBA Basketball World Cup 2023 in the territory of Indonesia.

A signing ceremony for the agreement between Bank Mandiri and the FIBA Basketball World Cup 2023 Organizing Committee was held on April 12 in Jakarta and was attended by Mr. Darmawan Junaidi, President Director of Bank Mandiri, Mr. David Crocker, Executive Director of the FIBA Basketball World Cup 2023, Mr. Cahyadi Wanda, Chairman of the Joint Management Committee and Mr. Budi Satrio Djiwandono, Chief Executive Officer of the FIBA Basketball World Cup 2023 Local Organizing Committee of Indonesia.  
 
Also attending the important moment was the Minister of Youth and Sports of the Republic of Indonesia, Zainuddin Amali and FIBA Central Board Member, Erick Thohir who is also the Minister of State-Owned Enterprises of the Republic of Indonesia. 

According to Darmawan Junaidi, Bank Mandiri's participation in sponsoring FIBA's flagship men's event cannot be separated from the long-standing commitment that the state-owned bank has made to supporting the development of basketball in Indonesia. "Currently, Bank Mandiri has identified itself as a company that supports the progress and development of basketball in Indonesia and many sports activities. Therefore, when Indonesia became co-host of basketball's biggest international event, it provided an important opportunity for Bank Mandiri to become better known on the world stage." 
 
David Crocker, Executive Director of the FIBA Basketball World Cup 2023 expressed his appreciation for the presence of Bank Mandiri as a local sponsor in Indonesia. "We are happy to have Bank Mandiri join the team as the first top tier sponsor of the FIBA Basketball World Cup 2023 in Indonesia.
