MIAMI (United States) - For the remaining teams, advancing to the Second Round of the FIBA Basketball World Cup 2023 Americas Qualifiers means that they are one step closer to World Cup qualification.

As the records of each team carry over from the First Round into the Second Round, some teams find themselves a bit closer to securing their World Cup ticket than others. At this point in the competition, only one team from the Americas will be able to secure their spot in the World Cup from Window 4.

Here's a quick breakdown of who can already lock up their spots at the World Cup, what they have to do, as well as which teams could be close, but still have to wait for qualification in the coming windows.

Here's what the standings look like in Group E heading into Window 4 of the Americas Qualifiers:

They win both games AND Dominican Republic lose both games (Canada beat Dominican Republic twice in the First Round) [/unordered]

Argentina and Venezuela can't clinch qualification in Window 4. Even if both teams win their two games and move to 7-1 after Window 4, Canada, Dominican Republic and one of these two teams can still be better in the end.

Here's what the standings look like in Group F heading into Window 4 of the Americas Qualifiers:

Uruguay vs. Puerto Rico - 20:10 local time
Colombia vs. USA - 19:40 local time

Unlike Group E, no team is guaranteed to clinch qualification in Group F in Window 4. Even if Brazil or USA win both games and finish 7-1 after the window, they both still have one of the two teams of Mexico and Uruguay who can mathematically still finish better in the end.

We'll just have to wait until Window 5 in November when World Cup qualification scenarios will be in play in Group F.
