USA bringing in some new faces for final qualifying window

MIAMI (United States) - USA have named their 12-man roster for the final window of the FIBA Basketball World Cup 2023 Americas Qualifiers, as they look to officially lock up their spot at this summer's big event.

USA are currently on top of Group F with a record of 8-2, and they will qualify for the World Cup if they defeat Uruguay on Thursday February 23, or if Brazil defeat Puerto Rico on the same day (even if USA were to lose).

After first facing Uruguay (5-5) on the road, USA will then close out the qualifiers with another road game against Brazil (7-3) on Sunday February 26.

The 12-man roster includes players with NBA, NBA G League and international experience with over half of the team also having previous experience with USA Basketball.

Will Davis II, Langston Galloway, Elijah Pemberton and Craig Sword are returning from the November 2022 window, Treveon Graham played on the 2020-21 AmeriCup Qualifying Team, while Dusty Hannahs, Nate Hinton, Jay Huff and Xavier Moon will be making their USA debuts.

Of all the players who've suited up for USA across all of the qualifying windows, Galloway has played the most games of anyone, playing in eight of the 10 games so far.

Huff, who is one of the USA newcomers, is currently playing for the South Bay Lakers in the G League and is on pace to break the league's block record, as the 2.16m (7ft 1in) center is averaging 3.6 per game.
