Top performers from Gameday 1 of Window 5

MIAMI (United States) - Gameday 1 of Window 5 at the FIBA Basketball World Cup 2023 Americas Qualifiers has wrapped up, and it was an exciting first two days with some well-rounded performances.

Bruno Caboclo headlines the top performers list after the star 27-year-old led Brazil to a 94-79 victory over Group F leader USA, finishing with 24 points, 4 rebounds and 2 assists, while shooting 9-of-13 from the field for an efficiency rating of 24.

Puerto Rico's backcourt duo of Stephen Thompson Jr. and Tremont Waters combined for 43 points in the team's 91-79 win over Colombia. The two also combined to knock down seven of Puerto Rico's 12 total three-pointers.

Thompson finished with 22 points, 6 rebounds and 2 assists on 7-of-13 shooting from the field and 4-of-6 from three-point for an efficiency rating of 24, while Waters finished with 21 points, 6 assists, 6 steals and 3 rebounds on 9-of-16 shooting from the field and 3-of-7 from three-point for an efficiency rating of 21.

Mexico picked up an important 80-60 victory over Uruguay in Group F to move into a tie for second place with Brazil at 6-3. Veteran national team player Gabriel Giron was the catalyst, as the 34-year-old recorded 20 points, 6 rebounds and 2 steals on 7-of-11 shooting from the field and 6-of-9 from three-point for an efficiency rating of 23.

Canada remained unbeaten at 9-0 and clinched their World Cup spot after defeating Venezuela 94-56 thanks to Owen Klassen recording a double-double of 11 points, 10 rebounds and 3 assists while shooting 5-of-8 from the field for an efficiency rating of 20.
