Canada have been an impressive team in these Americas Qualifiers, putting up a great collective performance and dominating most of the offensive facets of the game. Beyond their perfect record, the North American team is the leader in points per game with 102.0, the only one over 100 points. They also lead in field goals (51.4%), in three-pointers (43.3%) and free throws (76.3%). In assists they are second behind the United States (23.4) with an average of 22.3.
Point guard Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, MVP of Window 3, has established himself as the leader of the team, being a dominant player on both sides of the ball. The Oklahoma City Thunder star is averaging 26.3 points, 4.7 assists, 2.0 steals and 1.3 blocks.
Detroit Pistons power forward Kelly Olynyk has also made a big contribution under the boards and complemented Gilgeous-Alexander nicely. The 31-year-old veteran of nine seasons in the NBA averages 16.3 points, 7.7 rebounds and 2.3 steals.
Another one that can’t be left unmentioned from Canada is power forward Kyle Wiltjer, who carried the team in the first two windows. The 29-year-old so far is averaging 21.8 points averaging more than four 3-pointers per game and shooting 57 percent from long range.
