DAKAR (Senegal) - Egypt coach Roy Rana soon realized that his team needed height and weight to stop Senegal's main threat, but Yossoupha Ndoye came up with a man-of-the-game performance to deny the Pharaohs.

Ndoye sparked the hosts of Window 2 of the African Qualifiers with 17 points and 20 rebounds as Senegal dispatched Egypt 75-57 in Friday's second game of Group D of the FIBA Basketball World Cup 2023 African Qualifiers.

Check the video below for a compilation of every Ndoye's 20 rebounds:

    ...

Omar Oraby, a 2.18m (7ft 2in) came off the bench with the specific task to try and neutralize Ndoye, a 2.13m (7ft) center, but nobody was up to the task as Ndoye posted one of his best performances with the Senegalese uniform on.

    ...

Ndoye's 20 rebounds broke the record for most rebounds in an African Qualifiers game that previously belonged to Central African Republic's Johan Johan Grebongo, who grabbed 18 boards in a 63-62 overtime win against Cote d'Ivoire on February 25, 2018 in Maputo.

Turning point: Ahmed Metwaly 'Doola' hit two straight three-points early in the opening quarter to put Egypt in front 8-4, but that was a short-lived lead for Egypt, as Senegal used a 12-3 run to regain command of the game and close the first ten minutes with a 16-11 lead. Senegal never trailed again.

Game hero(es): Although Ndoye was impactful at both ends of the floor for Senegal, Bamba Diallo was equally fundamental offensively for the hosts.

The former AS Douanes shooting guard came off the bench to ignite Senegal's offense with a team-best 18 points, which included 15 points from beyond the arc.

Stats don't lie: Senegal outclassed Egypt at almost every aspect of the game. The Lions moved the ball a lot better, finishing with 19 assists against Egypt's 10. Senegal's bench proved more productive, contributing 36 points against Egypt's 16, but Egypt's Free-Throw was shocking as they made only 6-of-21.

Ehab Amin, one of this team's leaders, forced far too three-pointers, finishing 1-for-11 from behind the arc.

Bottom line: It can be argued that Senegal made the most of their home court advantage, however, Egypt showed poor cohesion to bother the Senegalese.

Senegal, on the other, looked confident, dominant, and sent a message out for the remainder of this FIBA Basketball World Cup African Qualifiers by making things looking so easy against a decent Egypt that can do a lot better.

What they said: "Not an easy task to come in here and play them in their home court. That's a very good Senegal team. I thought a lot about our troubles, we've just beaten ourselves in a lot of ways. We were pretty good not turning it over; we rebounded fairly well, but we just didn't shoot the ball very well. Shot selection is certainly an issue; we didn't shot well from the free-throw line; we didn't shoot well from three; we didn't shoot well from two. We are going to have to make shots to make a chance. Tonight wasn't our night." - Roy Rana - Egypt Head Coach.
