MONTERREY (FIBA Basketball World Cup 2019) - The Mexican Sporting Basketball Association (ADEMEBA) has announced that the tickets for game between Mexico and Puerto Rico in the Nuevo León Unido Gymnasium in Monterrey are sold out.
"The fact that tickets for Mexico vs Puerto Rico got sold out in less than two days says a lot about the organization efforts that Monterrey is putting into the game, led by the President of the Liga Nacional de Baloncesto Profesional and Fuerza Regia, Mr. Sergio Ganem. We are very happy that we will see a sold-out venue that day, we hope for people to get excited and help our team get the victory in a very important match against a direct rival of the Americas Qualifiers," said ADEMEBA president, Gilberto Hernández.
The clash of rivals is scheduled for Saturday, February 24 and it is very important for their intentions of continuing their route toward the FIBA Basketball World Cup 2019. Both countries hold a 1-1 record after the first window that took place in November.
The Mexicans start in their home and will end the February 27 window in Cuba.
Hernández concluded: "Mexico looks really good for this upcoming window. We, the leadership, coaching staff and players, are very excited. We know that Puerto Rico and Cuba are not easy teams, nonetheless, the advantage of playing at home first in front of a packed arena is highly beneficial for the team and we need to take advantage of it to secure the win in Monterrey. We hope then to carry that energy into our travel plans to Cuba and fight to get the road victory as well. It is not going to be easy, but we are confident that we have a team capable of doing it, a consolidated team, very integrated and eager to make history."
Meanwhile, the Puerto Rico team will have two away games, the second of which will take place in Santa Cruz, California, on February 27, where they will play against United States.
