    Australia - Hills giant AJ Ogilvy shoots for world titles

    Former Hills District Hornets junior and senior representative A.J. Ogilvy is back in Australia as part of the Golden Star Boomers, the Australian men’s national basketball team. On Monday, the team started an intensive six-day camp at the Southport Stadium on the Gold Coast as they prepare for their world championship campaign.

    Former Hills District Hornets junior and senior representative A.J. Ogilvy is back in Australia as part of the Golden Star Boomers, the Australian men’s national basketball team.

    On Monday, the team started an intensive six-day camp at the Southport Stadium on the Gold Coast as they prepare for their world championship campaign.

    A 15-strong squad of athletes will attend the camp, in preparation for the 2010 FIBA World Championship for Men, which will be held in Turkey from August 28 to September 12.

    The Boomers will use their Gold Coast training stint to prepare for the world championships and to finalise the team that will travel immediately after the camp to Liuzhou in China, where they will defend the title they won last year at the prestigious invitation-only Boris Stankovic Cup tournament.

    Standing at 211cm, Ogilvy plays centre for Vanderbilt University in the USA .

    He is considered a future NBA draft pick.
