SYDNEY (WNBL) - Sydney Uni Flames power forward Natalie Porter has been named the defencejobs WNBL Player of the Month for October.

The 185cm force was twice awarded the Nivea Player of the Week during the first month of competition in which Sydney Uni recorded wins over Townsville in Townsville, Bulleen in Bulleen, Dandenong in Dandenong and Perth in Sydney and two home losses to Dandenong and Townsville.

Porter, a 2004 Olympian, amassed 110 points at 18.3ppg, 46 rebounds, 21 assists, 7 blocked shots and 3 steals in just over 200 minutes on court.

"Thank you, I’m very happy about that," said Porter. "That’s awesome."

"We have gotten off to a pretty good start and the team has been playing well and I think that has lifted me.

"My main aim was to drop some weight and have a good season and it has started off that way and hopefully we can keep getting wins on the board.

"I just want to win a championship. I don’t really care how I play, I just want to win as a team and get that elusive trophy."

    Porter’s season so far:
