TORONTO (2010 FIBA World Championship) - FIBA World Championship-bound Australia star David Andersen will return to a new NBA team after the tournament, having been acquired by the Toronto Raptors in a trade.

The Raptors have given up a second round draft pick and cash considerations to pick up the 211m center, who averaged 5.8 points and 3.3 rebounds off the bench in 63 games for the Houston Rockets last season.

“David is a skilled big that gives us some insurance at the backup center position,” said Raptors president and general manager Bryan Colangelo. “He will also bring a veteran presence and savvy to a relatively young team.”

Andersen is with the Australia squad in China for the Stankovic Continental Cup, and scored the winning basket in a 64-63 victory over the hosts on Wednesday night.
