MEXICO (2015 FIBA Americas Championship) - Following the Dominican Republic's participation in the Jenaro "Tuto" Marchand Continental Cup, head coach Kenny Atkinson has finalised the team's roster for the 2015 FIBA Americas Championship.
"It was very difficult to choose 12 and cut three very good professionals," he said.
"This is the worst part of being a coach.
"I told them to continue to be part of this programme and that will open doors for them in the future.
Following a disappointing showing at the tournament in San Juan, Puerto Rico, where they lost all three of their games, Atkinson decided to leave Kelvin Pena, Ronald Ramon and Dagoberto Pena out of the team competing at the FIBA Americas Championship in Mexico City (31 August-12 September).
At the 12-team tournament, the Dominicans will play in Group A and tip off their campaign by taking on hosts Mexico.
They will also go up against Brazil, Panama and Uruguay.
The Dominican Republic will be aiming to reach the Final of the tournament to clinch a spot to the 2016 Rio de Janeiro Games.
