CORDOBA (Olympics) - Fabricio Oberto has begun to train with Atenas de Cordoba in the hope of making Argentina's Olympic squad.
A two-time Olympian and long-time member of the national team, Oberto came out of retirement to compete at the 2011 FIBA Americas Championship.
The 36-year-old played only five games during the 2010-11 NBA season before retiring due to a heart condition, in November 2010.
He appeared in seven games at the FIBA Americas Championship in Mar del Plata last summer and averaged 1.9 points and 3.4 rebounds.
It's not out of the realm of possibility that Oberto could play competitive games for a club again, be it for Atenas or another team.
Right now, though, his primary concern is to be fit and stay in contention for a spot in London.
"What I need to do is be in shape and the rest will depend on the coach (Julio Lamas)," he said.
