BUENOS AIRES (FIBA Olympic Qualifying Tournament for Women) – Argentina women’s coach Eduardo Pinto will pull out all stops to get his team to the Beijing Games via the FIBA Olympic Qualifying Tournament in June when the event is staged in Madrid.
With that in mind, Pinto, whose team will take on the Czech Republic and Angola in Group B in Spain, is leaving the door open for players who might be able to make his squad more formidable and this weekend he named a 16-strong pre-selection that will take part in a forthcoming South American tournament.
With his European-based players unable to join up until later, Pinto will use practices (March 1-9) and the tournament itself to consider possible additions to his group.
Argentina women’s pre-selection: Sandra Pavón, Marcela Paoletta, Paula Gatti, Marina Cava, Alejandra Fernández, Florencia Fernández, Celeste Cabañez, Anastacia Saenz, Aylin Astorga, Gimena Landra, Noelia Zina, Sofía Castillo, Andrea Kunkel, Daniela Oldani, Melisa Cejas, Constanza Landra.
