BUENOS AIRES (FIBA Americas Championship) – The Argentinean Basketball Confederation (CABB in Spanish) announced the name of the players who are scheduled to be active when Team Argentina faces Team Spain, current World Champion, in an exhibition game in Mar del Plata, as part of their training process for Team Argentina on their way to the “Tuto” Marchand Continental Cup in San Juan (August 16 – 18), and the FIBA Americas Championship 2007 in Las Vegas (from August 22 to September 2).
They also informed that the player Matias Sandes will not be part of the preliminary team currently training for Las Vegas, due to an injury suffered during his participation in the Pan-Am Games in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, that prevented him from practicing, and playing, during the last week of the competition.
Team Argentina will arrive in Mar del Plata with the following players: Pablo Prigioni and Antonio Porta (point guards); Paolo Quinteros and Carlos Delfino (shooting guards); Federico Kammerichs (small forward); Leonardo Gutiérrez and Diego Lo Grippo (strong forwards); Juan Gutiérrez, Luis Scola, Martín Leiva, Román González, and Juan Manuel Torres (centers).
Team Argentina’s head coach, Sergio Hernandez, annouced that new additions to their line-up are expected.
This game is part of the Super 4 tournament, in which the national teams from Uruguay, Canada, Spain, and Argentina, will be active.
