BEIJING (Olympics) - African champions Angola warmed up for the Beijing Games in style by winning all three of their games at the Borislav Stankovic Cup in China.
Alberto Carvalho’s team, which will be in Group B at the Olympics with Greece, Germany, Spain, China and the United States, thrashed a Russia B team 89-70.
They followed that up with a 72-70 win over China as Carlos Morais poured in 20 points for the Angolans.
Yi Jianlian, who was traded by Milwaukee to New Jersey earlier this summer, had 18 points and 11 boards for the Chinese.
Angola then finished off the event with a 68-60 triumph over a very good Serbia Under-20 team.
Olimpio Cipriano led all scorers with 20 points while Joaquim Gomes weighed in with 15.
China won their other two games against the Serbians and Russians. They beat the latter in their final game, 72-50.
The Russian senior team has been warming up in Spain where they took part in the Torneo Extremadura and beat Portugal but lost to Spain.
