COLORADO SPRINGS (FIBA U18 Americas Championship 2018) - USA Basketball has announced a 32-player pool for its training camp for the FIBA U18 Americas Championship 2018, including a couple of big name talents who have committed to elite level colleges.
Seventeen of the U18 hopefuls have taken part in at least one prior USA Basketball training camp with 15 of them appearing at the NCAA Next Generation Sunday at the 2018 NCAA Men's Final Four as members of the USA Basketball Men's Junior National Select Team.

"We are excited about the group of players that are competing for roster spots on the 2018 USA Men's U18 National Team," said Matt Painter, the chair of the USA Basketball Men's Junior National Team Committee. "This group is a versatile and diverse collection of players that will work together on the court and will represent USA Basketball very well."
Some of the biggest names on the list are Zion Williamson and Joey Baker, who will be heading to the Duke University next fall, University of Kansas commit Quentin Grimes, Coby White, who is bound for the University of North Carolina, and Kevin Porter, who verbally committed to the University of Southern California.
Kamaka Hepa, who signed with the University of Texas, has Native American and Filipino roots after growing up in Alaska and moving to Portland, Oregon to finish his high school career.
And Pat McCaffery was named MVP of the 2018 USA Basketball 3x3 U18 national championship in March and will play 3x3 basketball for the United States at the 2018 Summer Youth Olympic Games from Oct. 6-18 in Buenos Aires, Argentina.

The USA training camp, which will be led by head coach Bill Self, will run from May 31-June 2 in Colorado Springs. The FIBA U18 Americas Championship 2018 will be held June 10-16 in St. Catharines, Canada, with the top four finishers qualifying for the FIBA U19 Basketball World Cup 2019.
The United States are drawn into Group A with Dominican Republic, Panama and Puerto Rico.
