    SAN JUAN (FIBA U16 Americas Championships) - Just days before the start of the FIBA U16 Women’s Americas Championship, the Puerto Rico Basketball Federation announced in a press conference the teams that will represent the island in the continental U16 championships.

    The first team to phase the championship will be the women’s team, which will play the FIBA U16 Women's Americas Championship from June 7-11 in Buenos Aires, Argentina. The Puerto Ricans will be part of Group B, and will face United States, Colombia and Mexico during the first phase of the competition.

    The Puerto Rican U16 Men's Team will begin its participation at the FIBA U16 Americas Championship on June 14 in Formosa, Argentina and will be part of Group B alongside the United States, Mexico and the Dominican Republic.

    "The Puerto Rico Basketball Federation has made a great effort to have the teams ready for the FIBA U16 Americas Championships. We understand that both teams are very competitive and have had an excellent preparation for the competitions," said the President of the Puerto Rican Basketball Federation Mr. Yum E. Ramos Perales.

    Puerto Rico will look for one of four tickets available in each event, to qualify for the FIBA U17 Basketball World Cup 2018.
