    Algeria qualify for AfroBasket Women 2015

    ALGIERS (AfroBasket Women 2015) - Algeria have qualified for AfroBasket Women 2015 following their wins in their two-game Zone I Qualifier series against Morocco played on Thursday 30 April and Friday 1 May in Algiers, Algeria.

    Having comfortably won the first leg, 72-43, the Algerians followed that up with a 54-45 defeat of the Moroccans in the second leg, thereby punching their ticket for the biggest African women's basketball tournament, which will take place in Yaounde, Cameroon from 24 September-3 October.

    Algeria's coach, Yacine Belal, said: "Our qualification was achieved thanks to the 29-point margin of victory in the home game."

    Algeria become the ninth team to qualify for AfroBasket Women 2015, joining  Cameroon (hosts), Angola (defending champions), Mozambique and South Africa (Zone VI), Senegal and Mali (Zone II), Gabon (Zone IV) and Uganda (Zone V).

    As well as qualifying for the 24th edition of the continental championship - a qualifying tournament for the 2016 Rio Olympics - Algeria also earned a sport in the 2015 African Games which take place in the Republic of Congo in September.
