VALENCIA (Spain) - Santi Aldama was named the TISSOT MVP at the FIBA Olympic Qualifying Tournament 2024 Spain after helping lead his nation to the Olympics.
The 23-year-old averaged 17.0 points, 8.0 rebounds and 1.7 blocks per game to play a starring role for Spain as they went four of four in Valencia.
"In games like this, it's more about getting the win than anything else," Aldama said after the Final victory. "Super proud of the team, we wanted to be here today, we will get a little bit of rest and get right back to it."
Aldama was a consistent factor for his side on both sides of the floor, starting from putting up 17 points and 9 rebounds in an opening rout against Lebanon.
The forward followed up with 24 points and 8 rebounds against Angola to secure the spot in the Semi-Finals, in which he contributed 15 points and 8 boards in the midst of Willy Hernangomez dropping a game-high 28 points.
Aldama finished with an efficient 12 points and 7 rebounds in the Final victory, also coming up with an important putback down the stretch.
He now has the chance to emulate his father, Santiago Aldama, by competing in the Olympics for the first time later this month.
