ABIDJAN (Cote d'Ivoire) - The FIBA AfroCan Qualifiers for Zone 3 is billed to take place in Abidjan, Cote d'Ivoire from June 30th until July 2nd.

The Qualifiers, according to the President of the Zone, Sam Ahmedu will hold towards the end of June to give the countries in the zone an ample opportunity to pick tickets to participate in the Final Round billed for Angola (July 8-16).

Host nation for the Qualifiers, Cote d'Ivoire had finished a dismal 10th place at the inaugural edition held in Bamako, Mali in 2019.

The Ivorians want to put up a better performance this time around but will have to beat others to be in the second edition of the AfroCan.

With a competitive domestic league, the host want to start with the Qualifiers with the hope of getting the job done just as was the case with the World Cup Qualifiers in which they emerged the first team to punch a ticket.

The National Federations of Benin, Burkina Faso, Ghana, Niger, Nigeria and Togo will battle Cote d'Ivoire to have a shot at making the Final Round.

    In 2019, Cote d'Ivoire finished 10th while Nigeria - the other zone 2 participant - finished 11th.

The first ever AfroCan was held in 2019 in Mali, with DR Congo winning the inaugural title after beating Kenya 81-62 in the final.
