Stand-out players from Gameday 3 in Joburg

Gameday 3 produced some exciting numbers from both the winning and the losing sides. We look into some of the impressive performances of the day.

JOHANNESBURG (South Africa) - The group stage action at the East Division Elite 16 has concluded with four teams Cape Town Tigers, City Oilers, COSPN and Dynamo BBC booking Semi Final slots.

Gameday 3 produced some exciting numbers from both the winning and the losing sides. We look into some of the impressive performances of the day.

    Samuel 'Mike' Adewunmi (COSPN)

The Malagasy representatives picked a 79-73 win over Zimbabwe's JBC with the 24-year-old Nigerian dropping 22 points and 10 rebounds for a double-double, his 21 rating also including four assists and a steal.

He combined with Bishop Coulter for 44 of the side's 78 points, the win propelling them to the Semis.

Germaine Vashon Roebuck Jr (City Oilers)

The 26-year-old with an average of 14.7 points was 10-for-18 shooting, all on the paint for 20 points, adding 11 rebounds, 3 steals and 2 assists to lead Oilers to a 100-86 win over Ferroviario da Beira.

The American-born, who acquired Ugandan citizenship last year, combined with Parrish Petty for 37 of the side's numbers.

    Dylan Whitbread (Cape Town Tigers)

An almost perfect performance for the 29-year-old South African who finished the match without a turnover or even picking a foul gave his side a 69-61 win over NBA Academy, avenging their six-point loss to the same side in a friendly match played on Sunday ahead of the Elite 16.

Whitbread scored 17 in just over 34 minutes, adding 12 rebounds for a double-double, 3 steals and 2 assists for a 29 rating in efficiency.

    Tafadzwa Tela (JBC)

Making his debut in the Elite 16 for Addison Chiware's JBC, 26-year-old Tela has been a force for the side and despite exiting the competition on a 0-3 run, he was a thorn in any opponent's flesh.

He scored a match-high 23 with 7 rebounds to boot,  keeping the Zimbabweans in the game for as long as they could, crumbling in the final minutes of the encounter.

    Ismael Nurmamade (Ferroviario da Beira)

The Mozambican guard was not ready to go down without a fight as he shot from all cylinders for a match-high 23 points, dropping 3 of his 4 treys but it was not enough to stop the menacing Oilers.

    Dhieu Abwok Deing (Pazi)

In their heartbreaking 88-85 loss to Dynamo to lose out on a Last Four place, Pazi's Deing scored a game-high 32 points, adding 10 rebounds and three steals but it was not enough to give the Henry Mwinuka-led side victory in the dramatic flash decided in two overtimes.
