Draw results in for the Elite 16 Round of Road to BAL 2024

The draw took place while Group D was still ongoing in Gaborone to determine the last qualified team. A wild card to complete the Elite 16 line-up "will be confirmed confirmed next week," according to FIBA

GABORONE (Botswana) - The schedule and groups for the Elite 16 qualifying round for season four of the Basketball Africa League (BAL) have been confirmed following a draw ceremony held in Gaborone, Botswana on Monday, October 23.

Fifteen of the sixteen teams from East and West Divisions were divided into four groups of four teams each.

According to FIBA Africa's Competition Department, "The principle is to have two balanced groups [for each Division] and avoid that more than two teams that faced each other in the Group Phase to be drawn in the same Elite 16 group."

The draw took place while Group D was still ongoing in Gaborone to determine the last qualified team. A wild card to complete the Elite 16 line-up "will be confirmed confirmed next week," according to FIBA Africa.

Both Forces Armees et Police (FAP) of Cameroon and Bangui Sporting Club (Central African Republic) are the co-hosts of West Division Elite 16 that will take place in Yaounde, Cameroon from October 31 to November 5.

The East Division Elite 16 will run between November 14-19 in Johannesburg, South Africa.

Two teams (NBA Academy Africa and ASB Virunga) entered the competition as wild cards.

The 16 teams - divided into four groups of four - will compete for the six places available for the fourth edition of the BAL.

Each team will play the other three teams in their group, and the teams that finish in the top-two places of the group will advance to the Second Round to compete in the Semi-Finals, Final and Third-Place Game of each Division.

The winners of the Semi-Finals and winners of the Third-Place Games will qualify to the fourth edition of the BAL.
