Burundi's Dynamo awarded wild card for East Division Elite 16
ABIDJAN - Dynamo will now complete the last spot of Group A of the East Division Elite 16, which includes host Cape Town Tigers, NBA Academy Africa and Pazi.
ABIDJAN (Cote d'Ivoire) - FIBA Africa on Friday awarded Burundi's champions Dynamo a wild card for the East Division Elite 16.
The Eight-team qualifier will run between November 14 to 19 in Johannesburg, South Africa.
Dynamo faced ups and downs in their Group C campaign of the qualifier for the Basketball Africa League (BAL) Season 4 played last week in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania.
Dynamo
After beating Kenya giants Kenya Ports Authority (KPA) 75-63 in the group opener, they came up short against hosts Pazi BC (71-62) on Day 2 of the electrifying qualifier.
An 88-59 win over Elan Coton on the last day of the qualifier wasn't enough to see Dynamo qualify automatically to the highly-anticipated East Division Elite 16 as host Pazi signed out Group C with a perfect 3-0 mark, relegating Dynamo (2-1) to the second place of the group. KPA (1-2) came in third place and Benin's Elan Coton finished bottom of the group with a 0-3 record.
With this FIBA Africa invitation, Dynamo has become the third Burundi team - after New Star (2021) and Urunani (2022) - to reach the decisive Elite 16 round.
Dynamo will now complete the last spot of Group A of the East Division Elite 16, which includes host Cape Town Tigers, NBA Academy Africa and Pazi.
The three best-placed teams from the East Division Elite will qualify for the BAL Season 4.
